 Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana - PMMVY, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Scheme, Prandhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojna, PMMVY Is A Maternity Benefit Programme Offered By The Govt Of India Under Which A Cash Incentive Of Rupees 5,000 (Five Thousand) Is Provided To Pregnate Women & Lactating Mothers. The Incentive Is Provided For The 1st Living Child Of The Family For Fulfilling The Specific Maternal & Child Health Conditions.

Objectives Of PMMVY

The Govt Run Programme Aims To Fulfill The Following Objectives :

The Provide Compensation For The Wage Loss In Terms Of Cash Incentives So That The Women Can Take Adequate Rest Before & After Delivery Of The 1st Living Child. It Is A Partial Compensation Which Is A Part Of A Plan To Provide A Total Sum Of Rupees 6,000 On An Average To The Women. The Remaining Cash Incentive Of Rupees 1.000 Is Provided Under Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) After Institutional Delivery.

The Improve Health Seeking Behaviour Amongst Pregnant Women & Lactating Mothers.

 All Pregnant Women & Lactating Mothers Excluding The Ones Who Are In Regular Employment With The Central / State Govt Or Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) OR Those Who Are In Receipt Of Similar Benefits Under Any Law.

All Eligible Pregnant Women & Lactating Mother's Who Have Their Pregnancy On Or After 01-01-2017 For The 1st Child In The Family.

The Date & Stage Of Pregnancy For A Beneficiary Is Counted With Respect To Her Last Menstrual Period (LMP) Date As Mentioned In The Mother & Child Protection (MCP) Card.

How to Apply For Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana

A Beneficiary Can Apply For The Yojana Only Within 730 Days From The Date Of Her Last Menstrual Period (MP). The LMP Registered In The MCP Card Will Be Treated As The Date Of Pregnancy Under The Yojana.

  • Copy Of MCP Card
  • Copy Of ID Proof
  • Copy Of Bank / Post Office AC Passbook
  • An Undertaking / Consent Duly Signed By The Applicant & Her Husband
The Offline Application Form Can Be Obtained Form The AWC / Approved Health Facility Free Of Cost Or Be Downloaded From The Official Website Of The Ministry Of Women & Child Development. Undernutrition Continues To Adversely Affect The Majority Of Women In India

In India Every 3rd Women Is Undernourished & Every Second Women Is Anemic. An  Undernourished Mother Almost Inevitably Gives Birth To A Low Birth Weight Boy / Baby. When Poor Nutrition Starts In - Utero, It Extends Through Out The Life Cycle Since The Changes Are Largely Irreversible. Owing To Economic & Social Distress Many Women Continue To Work To earn A Living For Their Family Right Up To The Last Days Of Their Pregnancy.

Further More, They Resume Working Soon After Child Birth, Even Through Their Bodies Might Not Permit It, Thus Preventing Their Bodies From Fully Recovering On One Hand, & Also Impeding Their Ability To Exclusively Breast Feed Their Young Infant In The 1st Six Months. PMMVY Is A Maternity Benefit Programme That Is Implemented In All The Districts Of The Country In Accordance With The Provision Of The National Food Security Act, 2013.

Benefits Under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Scheme
Cash Incentive Of Rupees 5,000/- In Three Instalments I.e. 1st Instalment Of Rupees 1,000/- On Early Registration Of Pregnancy At The Anganwadi Centre (AWC) / Approved Health Facility As May Be Identified By The Respective Administering State / UT, 2nd Instalment Of Rupees 2,000/- After Six Months Of Pregnancy On Receiving At Least One Ante Natal Check Up (ANC) & 3rd Instalment Of Rupees 2,000/- After Child Birth Is Registered & The Child Has Received The 1st Cycle Of BCG, OPV, DPT & Hepatitis - B, OR Its Equivalent / Substitute.
